The Skilled Migrant Internship Program – Accounting (SMIPA) is a 44 week course that is designed to improve the career prospects of international accounting graduates from Australian universities. It combines a practical, work-experience component with professional training and workshops.
About the program
This 44 week program includes 26 weeks of theoretical classes and workshops, covering topics such as Australian work practices, effective business communication, client service and work safety.
This is complemented by a practical, 12 week internship with a host company, where you will get hands-on training and advice from professionals who work in your chosen industry.

MYOB is an accounting software program that is widely used by Australian businesses. As part of your course, you will receive specialised, online training in MYOB so you can be better prepared when you secure your first job in accounting.
General Skilled Migration
The Professional Year Program is approved by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) , which means on successful completion you will be eligible for migration points towards permanent residence.
Who is it for?

- completed an undergraduate or postgraduate award in Australia in accounting
- applied for or hold the 485 Skilled Graduate Visa (SGV)
- evidence of a minimum of IELTS 6.0 in all bands
- a valid skills assessment from an accounting professional association
